Local Color | Opening Night!
I have been working on my current project: Local Color | Natural Dyes of Detroit for the past year. Foraging for plants, dyeing yarn, weaving tapestries, creating a catalog and now preparing to install the work! For the entire month of September, as part of The Detroit Month of Design, you can come see Local Color - a free, outdoor, public art installation - on The Dequindre Cut. I am so excited to share this work with you!
The opening event will take place Saturday September 5th from 6-8pm. The installation will be just north of The Dequindre Cut Freight Yard. The best way is to park in the lot on Wilkins and Orleans in Eastern Market. You will enter The Dequindre Cut from the Wilkins St. entrance and head towards the river. The address is 1905 Alfred St.
The Freight Yard will be open and serving drinks, so bring your friends! Wear your masks! Let me know if you have any questions.
